I am installating on VPS CentOS 5.3 and I use HyperVm. I am having problem installing Asterisk using above method. It does does through some process but give me this erro at the end. And when I try to start using “amportal start” it say this: FATAL: can not find freepbx_engine to start Asterisk

I know I don’t have zaptel hadware and their is no direct access to hardware in VPS(OpenVZ). What should I do? Please help, thank you for this post.

Run these commands from the hardware node if you’re getting TTY issues.

vzctl exec 101 /sbin/MAKEDEV tty
vzctl exec 101 /sbin/MAKEDEV pty
vzctl enter 101

where 101 is your VM ID, then disable udev. udev gets updated/installed after a yum update which causes this issue, edit;

/etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit

Comment/remove the line;

/sbin/start_udev

Reboot the VM and everything should be OK.

Hi there,

After installing i got a TTY problem.

To solve it and make Asterisk start just edit /usr/sbin/safe_asterisk and comment out the TTY= line

I have been following this but running into some problems with tty’s as documented on the openvz site, but i’ve made a start on it, it’s up and running. Thanks
